Mission Opportunities
The mission opportunities here at Fairview Baptist Church are inspired by the Holy Spirit as we are led to the exact places and peoples that God would have us to minister to and reach for Jesus Christ. The Great Commission tells us to "Go" and go we must! We must go to our local community, to doors of opportunity in our own state and nation, and also around the world. Fairview Baptist Church is a mission-minded church and we are thankful for the partnerships we have with many different people groups and geographic locations. The cost of the trips range from a couple of hundred dollars to $1,600 and as God guides He will provide, as we are faithful to the call. Here are some of the mission works we are involved in:
PROJECT JERUSALEM YOUTH MISSION:
This is a church sponsored mission opportunity for youth and adults alike to participate in for the senior members of our church that have projects around their home. It is a tremendous learning experience that changes the lives of our young people and encourages and strengthens our adults as they work together for one week out of the year in their church field to help those who are in need. The testimonies from these trips will warm your heart and bring tears to your eyes as you hear individuals give account after account of how God worked in their lives and in the lives of those they helped. What a blessing!
EL SALVADOR:
Fairview Baptist Church has been involved in many mission efforts through the years and our El Salvador mission is one that has been faithful for over six years now with another trip planned for 2009. The work there includes a church that has been built along with working in the schools and seeing new opportunities arise each year. There is usually quite a bit of construction work available to volunteers whom the Lord leads to be a part of. There are many churches in our local area that are involved in this work and isn't just the work of only our church.
PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI
This ministry is fairly new to Fairview as Bro. Johnny has led two teams from Fairview in January of 2008 and January of 2009 and he is now preparing to take another team in January of 2010. This ministry is linked to Crusades for Christ and Bro. Joe Mobley. The tremendous poverty in Haiti is mind-boggling and the depth of need is endless. This people group is one that is very close to our own border and is easily within reach of America. This mission involves ministry to orphanages, schools, a Pastor's school, over 70 churches, medical clinics, and of course nightly revivals. This people group is hungry for the gospel and physically hungry on a daily basis. Come with us and see how God will use you to bring blessings and saving grace to a people who've been beaten down by their own government and by the wiles of the devil.
ANGEL-FOOD MINISTRY
We now have Angel Food Ministry food packages available each month to anyone within or without of our church. We have just completed our first order in April with over 50 packages ordered! We believe that this will be a vital outreach ministry to the lost in our community as well as a help to our own members as the economy continues to struggle in our nation. The food packages contain high quality foods at a fraction of the cost compared to grocery stores in our area. The packages include $60.00 to $75.00 worth of food for an average of $30.00!
